Talented Hockey players win Silver medals at National Indoor Club Finals

Two of Oakham’s talented hockey players, Chris and Ben, won silver medals with Harrogate Hockey Club at the U18 National Indoor Club Finals, held at Telford this weekend.

Ben was the team’s top goal scorer during the tournament with 11 goals over the 6 games, helping with the Club’s success. After a tight final the side lost narrowly against East Grinstead.

Ben and Chris (Form 6) were also part of Oakham’s 1st VI who played in the National Schools Final competition, which took place the week before, missing a place in the semi-final by just one goal.

The National Indoor Club Finals also saw Form 7 pupil Becca play for the Beeston U18 team and despite her best efforts, scoring 7 goals in 4 games, Beeston narrowly missed reaching the finals by a single goal.

Form 5 pupil Immi also played for Beeston U16s at Aldersley at the weekend.

“We are so proud of Immi, Becca, Ben and Chris for representing their clubs at the National Indoor Club Finals this weekend,” says Director of Hockey James Bateman.

Hockey at Oakham continues to go from strength to strength with pupils enjoying success in National Indoor and Outdoor tournaments for both the School and the Clubs.
