Health and Fitness

Teaching our pupils how to lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoy physical activity are a fundamental part of education at Oakham.

Our aim is to promote a culture of wellbeing throughout the School, which we do through our sports and activities programme and as part of our exceptional Pastoral Care. With over 30 sports on offer for pupils to play, either competitively or purely for recreation, there is a wealth of opportunities for them to discover a sport they love and will enjoy for life.

We teach our pupils how to keep mentally and physically fit as part of our pastoral learning curriculum and our Matrons and staff in the Medical and Pastoral Centre are always on hand to provide support to pupils, whatever their individual needs.

Ensuring that our pupils enjoy a balanced, nutritious diet as part of a healthy lifestyle is something that our experienced team of catering staff care passionately about. Pupils can choose from a wide selection of food at every mealtime, most of which is sourced locally. From breakfast, through to lunch, match teas, House snacks and then dinner, there’s always lots of choice. There is a sandwich bar, a pasta bar, a daily choice of different hot dishes, a salad bar, a daily hot vegetarian dish – the list goes on and on.
