Oakham is proud of its golfing tradition and we run an excellent programme of tuition and match opportunities at the School. Our home club is the Luffenham Heath Golf Club (which is an Open qualifying course) and lessons are taken every week from the club’s professional, Ian Burnett. Our aim is to encourage all abilities to play the game, but there is, of course, plenty of opportunity for the elite to play competitively.

The School has a busy fixture list that includes matches against other leading schools and we also take part in National Competitions, including the Independent Schools Golf Association (ISGA), and the HMC Foursomes Competition.

In recent years, we have had golfers selected for the elite British Swifts golf team, which comprises the top 8 golfers from the UK’s Independent Schools, who tour the East Coast of the US, playing on some of the finest golf courses in the world.

Oakham have reached the ISGA finals in the past and thus students have had the chance of pitting their abilities against the best school golfers in the country at venues including Carnoustie, Royal St Georges and St Andrews.
