Lacrosse is continuing to expand and grow at Oakham. It is a popular girls sport offered as an alternative to hockey and netball in both the Winter and Spring Terms. Lacrosse is played at 1st XII, 2nd XII, and 3rd XII, 16A and U15A levels against sides from across the country, including Uppingham, Haileybury and Stowe.
Oakham’s 1st XII has enjoyed success at the Small Schools National Tournaments and individuals are progressing well too, at the county and territorial levels.
I joined Oakham School in January 2014 as the Assistant Director of Sport (Girls). I first worked at Oakham back in 1999 as a teacher of PE and AS/A2 Sport Studies and then Head of Girls Games before moving to a role as Headmaster’s wife at S. Anselm’s Prep School and Cargilfield Prep School, near Edinburgh. At S. Anselm’s I held the position of Director of Sport and whilst in Scotland I joined the the Scotland Netball Pathways Programme to coach and prepare talented netball players at U17 international level.
