Girls football is a fast-developing sport at Oakham played in the Winter and Spring Terms by girls in Forms 5–7. The School runs U18 and U16 teams, who play regular inter-school fixtures against regional rivals Uppingham, Repton and Rugby and compete in the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) Girls Cup Competitions.
The 1st XI are a highly successful team, who were crowned winners of the ISFA U18 National Schools Cup in 2015 and were runners up in 2018. We also have six students who play in the ISFA U18 Midlands squad, and two who are part of the English Schools U18 squad.
Boys from Forms 3–7 play football in the Spring Term. The School runs 9 teams from 1st XI to U14A level, who play regular inter-school fixtures against Bedford, Bromsgrove and Oundle, amongst others.
The 1st XI competes in the LB Cup, a competition run by Oakham involving 16 independent schools.
I joined Oakham in 2001 as a teacher of Physics. I have been Head of Girls Football since 2014, I am a tutor in Clipsham House and I enjoy the sun and sea.
I joined Oakham in 2005 as Head of Sport Science and Director of Athletics, having worked in similar roles both in this country and Australia. I have been Director of Sport at Oakham since 2006; I coach rugby, run boys tennis, teach IB and A-level Biomechanics and am actively involved in research to develop psychological skills in young people.
