Cross Country

The School’s cross country runners train on the tracks and paths around Rutland Water and through farmland and woodland in the beautiful Rutland countryside. In the Winter Term runners take part in the English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) Cross Country Championship with the first round held on our own course. In the Spring Term the School competes in inter-school races with schools from all over the East Midlands. Our better runners gain selection for Inter-Counties and English Schools’ Championships.

Oakham enjoys regular success at regional and national level with teams competing at the ESAA National Finals most years. A team of four dedicated coaches has evolved over the past 3 years, helping runners of all ages and abilities to enjoy and improve their distance running and racing.
