The Archives

We are proud of Oakham’s long and rich history and over the years have been able to build up a fascinating collection of archive material: photos, essays, past editions of the Oakhamian magazine, items of school uniform, to name but a few.

The Oakham School Archives provide a historical record of Oakham School and are available to Oakhamians past, present and future, as well as to members of the public.

If you would like to arrange a visit or have any questions, please feel free to contact the archives on 01572 758 608 or by email at

Charlotte McCrory

I joined Oakham School in 2018 as their Archivist. Previously, I worked for Nottingham University Library and have had a wealth of experience at archives such as the Parliamentary Archives and The University of Leicester’s Special Collections. I hold a First class honours degree in History from the University of Kent and an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester. My passion is history and archives and I want to make collections as accessible and engaging to as wide an audience as I can. I am looking forward to the challenges and diverse nature that the work with Oakham School archives will bring. In my spare time, I volunteer at Erewash Museum; helping with their collections and education programmes. I research and write both articles and my own blog with a particular focus on The Wars of the Roses, The Tudors, museums and archives, and Disney animation. Additionally, I am married and also a keen baker, book lover and musician.
