Leicestershire Fire and Rescue came into school to talk to Form 7 about the Fatal 4; the most common causes of accidents whilst driving: mobile phone use, drink driving, failure to use seat belts and speeding.
It was a hard-hitting presentation but students reported back that they found it hit just the right spot to be memorable without being frightening. Head of PSHE Viv Lamb said ‘we understand that with presentations like this it is a fine balance between shocking and changing behaviour. However, if this saves just one life it will be worth it.’
This will now be followed up by a further visit to use Virtual Reality technology in small groups.
