Virtual end of year Dance Showcase

The annual end of year Dance Showcase saw pupils and staff give an amazing adapted virtual performance of their show, Songs from the Movies, with a special recording of their opening number, ‘Come Alive’ from The Greatest Showman.

The show was to have featured songs such as ‘Gonna Fly Now’ (the theme from Rocky) ‘He’s a pirate’, (the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean) and ‘Send me on my way’, (from Matilda), and been performed through group and solo pieces using pupils’ and staff collaborative choreography.

However, as the Lower, Middle and Upper School dancers were unable to perform their showcase to a live audience in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, because of the recent pandemic lockdown, they individually recorded their pieces at home. Their work was then added to a collaborative recording.

Theatre Fellow, Kaitlyn Bray, said, “This was a dynamic, exciting and unique piece of work, which formed a sense of unity and solidarity amongst the pupils, in the midst of these uncertain times.”
