Last night saw IB Diploma and A-level Spanish pupils enjoying the termly Film and Pizza evening.
The pupils enjoyed a screening of ‘Ocho Apellidos Catalanes’ a comedy which exaggerates, in good humour, the regional differences in Spain between the Basque Country, Andalucia and Cataluña.
The Spanish Department host this termly event to encourage Oakhamians to explore the rich variety of Spanish and Hispanic films on offer, in particular, those which complement the themes of the A level and IB courses they study. ‘Ocho Apellidos Catalanes’ addresses the themes of stereotyping and cultural and regional diversity and provides an opportunity to view these themes in action through the genre of comedy.
