Congratulations to the U14 girls’ hockey team who have progressed through to the Regional Finals.
The girls won two out of the three games in the Midlands Zone Round of the National Schools Championships beating Moreton Hall 6-0 and Oundle 3-0 and losing to King’s High 2-1.
Graduate Sports Fellow Kieran Walton said, “The girls got off to a great start with a penalty corner putting them 1-0 up in the first game against King’s High. Unfortunately, a strong King’s High side came back to take the game 2-1.
Not letting the first game get their heads down, Oakham came out firing against Moreton Hall, with Sammy scoring a hat-trick and U13 Libby scoring her first goal for the U14s. The girls finished the game 6-0 to put the team right back on track.
Oakham faced a strong Oundle team in the final game. Despite consistent Oundle pressure in the middle parts of the game forcing Izzy to make some nice saves, goals from Sammy and Libby sealed an emphatic 3-0 victory.”
The girls now progress to the next round of the competition, to be played on Wednesday the 24th of November at Rugby School.
