Three Old Oakhamians play in Cricket County Championship match

Last weekend saw three Old Oakhamians playing in the same Cricket County Championship match held at Trent Bridge with Tom Fell (12) representing Worcestershire and Lyndon James (17) and Stuart Broad (04) representing Nottinghamshire CCC. It is believed to be the first time three Old Oakhamians have played in the same fixture in this Championship.

Stuart Broad finished the game as Nottinghamshire’s second-highest wicket-taker picking up 3-28 in Worcestershire’s first innings (including removing fellow OO Tom Fell) and 2-31 in the second innings.

Nottinghamshire CCC won the game by an innings and 170 runs with Lyndon being the third-highest scorer for the team scoring 78 runs of 162 balls. He also picked up a wicket in Worcestershire’s second innings.

Director of Cricket Neil Johnson said, “We are very proud to see so many of our talented Old Oakhamians playing together at this level and it was a historic week for Oakham Cricket. We are especially proud of our links with Nottinghamshire Cricket and hope that many more boys and girls can progress through this pathway.”

Oakham has a strong tradition of developing young cricket talent, having been a training ground for professional cricketers such as Stuart Broad, Tom Fell, Lyndon James, Matt Boyce, Josh Cobb and Alex Wyatt in recent years. Find out more about cricket at Oakham here.
