The return of Music at Lunchtime concerts

Oakham School is delighted to announce the return of live music with an array of concerts planned for both the School and the wider community.

“Whilst we have maintained an incredibly busy rehearsal programme for our musicians throughout the Covid restrictions, we are all thrilled to move from promoting filmed performances to performing live once more,” says Peter Davis, Director of Music at Oakham School.

The weekly Music at Lunchtime recitals provide a wonderful musical interlude on Wednesdays during term time when the town is busy on market day. Each week sees different talented musicians perform in All Saints’ Church.  On 9 June Bethany Davis soprano will be performing music by Britten and Rachmaninov. The 16 June sees Rupert performing Liszt on the piano, whilst the 23 June showcases two more talented pianists, Jan & Obi. The series culminates with the School’s renowned Chamber Choir who will be singing selections from Finzi Poems of Robert Bridges, Stanford The blue bird and Vaughan Williams Lord, thou hast been our refuge.

“These weekly concerts take place at 1:30pm; they are all free to attend, and we very much look forward to welcoming the local community to safely enjoy live music once more,” adds Peter.  “There will, of course, be rigorous social distancing and safety measures put in place, to ensure the recitals are safe for everyone who attends.”

Looking beyond the Summer holidays, a much fuller programme of performances will resume from September, with details appearing in the School’s Arts Calendar which can be viewed online at https://bit.ly/oakhamartscalendar
