It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform everyone that I will be leaving my post as School Archivist at Oakham School.
Over the last three years we have completely reorganised and catalogued the archives and set up our new AToM cataloguing software; set up our blog and twitter sites; created lots of educational materials for use inside and outside of the classroom; produced exhibitions digitally and physically on all aspects of school life; and also set up our digital exhibition platform Libguides. This is just to name a few things! The Archives are only just beginning to get into its stride and I firmly believe that it can become one of the best in the country.
I am so proud of what I have achieved here over the last three years. My hope is that staff, pupils, Old Oakhamians, and members of the public feel engaged with our collection and support our efforts to preserve and highlight Oakham School’s important local and national history.
I will be the next Learning Resources Manager for Derby Cathedral School, a position which allows me to continue my desire to help engage with children, explore the knowledge, and promote learning and reading for the sheer love of it.
I wish the school luck in the future and I shall of course be keeping an eye out for what the archives do next.
Thank you and goodbye,
Charlotte McCrory
