Summer term of boarding fun

Oakham’s boarders have had an action-packed summer term, with lots of activities in-house and trips around Rutland and the local countryside.

The girls in Stevens, Buchanans and Rushbrookes have enjoyed pizza and BBQ nights, drumming sessions, as well as taking part in crafts and enjoying a trip to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits. The girls also took part in interhouse rounders, tennis, and cricket.

The boys in Wharflands, Chapmans and Haywoods have been competing in house cricket, with Haywoods winning the inaugural Kilburn Road Cup match against Chapmans. The boys have had fun improving their fitness, paintballing, playing footgolf and at the Rutland Aquapark. There have also been BBQ and pizza nights.

Lower School boarders have participated in art workshops, enjoyed some cookery, movie nights and ‘Hodges Got Talent’, played board games and visited the Zoo.

Buchanans Housemistress Carly Latham said, ‘It has been great to end such a turbulent year with all the houses full of laughter and life and with everyone enjoying activities at the weekends and in the evenings.’

Boarding life at Oakham is always busy and fun, with boarders benefitting from sharing experiences and developing friendships within a supportive environment. Click here to find out more about boarding options.
