Students welcome back The Rt. Hon. Sir David Lidington
Politics & International Relations students were delighted to welcome back The Rt. Hon. Sir David Lidington KCB CBE to reflect on his extensive time working as a senior Cabinet Minister in government. David also shared his thoughts about the whirlwind of political events over recent months.
Sir David gave his views on many themes linked to the pupils’ courses – such as the reform of Parliament, protecting the independent relationship between the Executive, Parliament and the Judiciary and the UK’s role in the world as a post-EU member.
Teacher of Politics and International Relations, James Farrar said, “IB students shared their thoughts and ideas about their proposed engagement activities which account towards their final mark. Both A-Level and IB students study global politics, so it was very impressive to hear the different range of questions asked and the extensive opportunities for a longer than planned Q & A session.
The Politics Department offers a wide variety of enrichment opportunities from guest talks, essay competitions and trips, including New York and Washington DC in October 2023.
