Oakham School was delighted to welcome Premier League Beeston Hockey Club player and former 1st XI hockey captain Ben Collinson (’21) to help coach the U14, U16 and 1st XI boys’ squads ahead of their fixtures this weekend.
Ben told the pupils to take every opportunity offered by the School, which have helped set him up to play Premier League hockey. He also advised that ‘keeping things simple will serve them well’. Ben shared his knowledge on playing in 2v1 situations and how simple principles work both at School and top-level hockey.
James Bateman, Director of Hockey, said, “It is always such a pleasure to have students return to share their experience with others. We are so proud of what Ben has achieved, and we wish him the best of luck with his ongoing assessment for the Great Britain Elite Development Squad”.
Oakham pupils are fortunate to have coaching sessions with such talented athletes, and we wish them luck for their fixtures this weekend.
