Pupils and Staff Photography Exhibition

The Art department were delighted to welcome visitors at the opening of the students and staff Photography Exhibition in the Wheelhouse Gallery yesterday.

The theme this year was ‘Happiness’ and there were a large number of submissions focusing on a huge range of subjects, approaches and ideas.

Director of Art Mrs Elinor Brass said, “It was fantastic to see such a variety of angles and concepts of the theme. One of the strengths of the exhibition was the thoughtful writing that individuals had written to explain the images.”

Mrs Antonia Scott, one of the entrants, said, “I am so proud to have been given the chance to be part of the exhibition, as the standard and range of the photos are impressive. It’s fantastic that we have the opportunity to see our own photographs on display in a gallery!”

The exhibition will stay open until 9 March.

Students’ work features in regular exhibitions both in School and nationally. The standard is indeed exceptional, with Oakham pupils regularly winning art and design awards. The Wheelhouse Gallery provides a dedicated space in which to stage exhibitions by students and visiting artists and is open to the public.
