Player of the Championship Jack van Poortvliet captains England U20s to Grand Slam Victory.

Old Oakhamian Jack van Poortvliet (19) led England U20s to a Grand Slam victory in the recent U20s Six Nations Championship with five wins from five matches in each of their games in the tournament.

As well as captaining the side to their Grand Slam win, Jack also won the U20s Player of the Championship for his brilliant performances at scrum-half throughout the five rounds of rugby action and is the first-ever winner of this award.

Director of Rugby, Andy Rice said, “Jack has had an outstanding Six Nations Championship and should be very proud of his and his team’s achievements. I am sure his performances have not gone unnoticed by England Head Coach Eddie Jones.”

The tournament also saw some excellent play from fellow Old Oakhamian Sam Costelow (19) who represented Wales, who finished 4th overall with two wins and three losses.

Jack’s success sees him follow in the footsteps of another OO, Hamish Watson (10), who won the Six Nations Player of the Championship earlier this year and is currently on tour in South Africa with The British and Irish Lions.
