Old Oakhamian Jed Gelderbloom (‘21) selected to play in the U20 Rugby Six Nations Scotland team

Congratulations to Old Oakhamian Jed Gelderbloom (‘21) who has been selected to play in the U20 Rugby Six Nations Scotland team, which starts 4 February.

Whilst at Oakham, Jed was part of the Leicester Tigers Academy squad and on leaving School this summer signed with Edinburgh Rugby. Jed is the son of double European Cup winner and Oakham School Housemaster Glenn Gelderbloom, so sporting talent clearly runs through the family.

Jed follows hot on the heels of Old Oakhamians and rugby stars Jack van Poortvliet (’19) and Sam Costelow (’19), who played in the U20 Rugby Six Nations England and Wales teams respectively for two years running, in 2020 and 2021.

Director of Rugby Andy Rice said, “This is a great opportunity for Jed, and we are incredibly proud of him. The competition will be a fantastic development experience.”

In other rugby news, Old Oakhamian Fred Davies (’17), who plays for Bristol Bears, has just become the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Super Rugby all-time top league try scorer.
