Oakham’s Shooting Success

Pupils shooting Well done to Oakham’s Small-bore shooting team who claimed victory over Oundle at the the East Midland Schools Small-bore Shooting League competition.

The Final was shot at Holwell Rifle club near Melton Mowbray and was officiated by an external referee from the Northants, Leics and Rutland target Shooting Association.

Master in Charge of Shooting, Iain Reeves said, “Both teams shot well with Oakham being victorious on the day. Special mentions must go to Form 4 pupil Maximilian who was the highest overall scorer with an impressive 194 Ex 200 and to Form 4 pupil Evie who scored an outstanding HPS of 100 ex 100 during training.”

This is the first year that Lower School pupils took part in the competition with Form 2 pupils Freddie and Henry (the team captain) being the inaugural Lower School shooters on Oakham’s team sheets.

Meanwhile Form 6 pupils Sam, Charles and Oliver were placed First, Second and Third in the Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Target Shooting Association Junior Championship. The final was also held at Holwell Rifle Club and was against Uppingham.

Iain said, “All shooters performed well under pressure and it was great to see some superb markmanship on display.”
