Oakham’s Director of Art organises Art Teacher residential course

Over the Easter break, Oakham’s Director of Art, Elinor Brass, organised a residential course in sunny Margate for Art teachers across the UK. The teachers are also members of the popular Sketchbook Circle, a monthly sketchbook exchange between artist educators, co-founded by Elinor. The residential offered the attendees the opportunity to build networks, be experimental, and share ideas and experiences.

Elinor tells us more: “28 Art teachers enjoyed coming together for some creative activities. There was a chance to explore the town through drawing, as well as spend time making together in the Turner Contemporary and collaborating on the beach.  One of the highlights was visiting Keith Brymer Jones in his studio in Whitstable and hearing his stories about creative life.”

Comments by the teachers about the course include:

“Had an absolute blast and can’t wait to do it all over again.  A much needed creative recharge.  It’s amazing what three days in creative company can do.”

“I am so grateful for what this amazing community of creatives”

“Thanks for all the wonderful shared experiences, inspiring creativity and good company”.
