Two talented Oakham Rugby players, Henry and Jacob have been selected to join the elite 22-man squad at the England Rugby U18 Development Camp in York on 27 October.
England Rugby has named them as part of the top U18 rugby players in the country who are training in Development squads over half term, with 22 in the North, 22 in the South and a further 24-man squad that are meeting in Bisham Abbey.
Henry and Jacob are Sports Scholars and members of Oakham’s 1st XV. They are also both Leicester Tigers Academy players, regularly training at a high level and playing competitive fixtures.
Director of Rugby, Andrew Rice, praised the pair for their achievement. “I am very proud of them both. They have worked hard in terms of strength and conditioning and in their performances on the pitch,” he said. “Their success will also hopefully inspire many of Oakham’s junior players.”
Further England development training camps are scheduled in the forthcoming months before the start of the international calendar with U18 games commencing in March, where the relaxation of COVID restrictions allows.
Oakham School has an impressive history of producing rugby talent. Past stars include Tom Croft (England), Lewis Moody (England), Alex Goode (England) and Hamish Watson who currently plays for Scotland.
