Oakham School’s rifle team victorious

30th November 2022

Last Saturday saw Oakham School’s rifle team claim victory against the Oxford University Development team with a 41-point difference. The two teams finally met in Oxford after a long delay due to Covid.

The first Oakham pair scored an impressive 94 and 90 out of 100, respectively, giving the side a healthy lead. After dropping some points, the Oakham team gradually settled into a steady shooting rhythm, which was led by Andy (F5), who was Oakham’s top scorer on the day. After nine rounds of competitive shooting, Oakham secured the win with a score of 1408 Ex 1600.

Oakham’s Master in Charge of Shooting, Iain Reeves, said, “I am pleased with their performance. The team trained hard, paying particular attention to the application of marksmanship and equipment set-up. We had been looking forward to the match, and all credit to Oxford University, who proved to be very strong competition.”
