Oakham pupils have seen success across the rifle range this term.
Congratulations to Form 7 pupil Adam who has been selected to shoot for England in the British Schools Small Bore Rifle (BSSRA) National Match International event, based on his performances in competitions throughout the season. He will be competing against Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Channel Islands.
Adam was also a part of the BSSRA Divisional winning team along with Oakhamians Alex (Form 6), George (Form 7) and Sam (Form 6). They won Division 3 of Section 2 in the Spring Term league.
Meanwhile Form 4 pupil Charles won the Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Target Shooting Association (NLRTSA) Under 16 Championship beating several talented competitors from across the counties.
Alex and Sam (Form 6) have also made it through to the final three competitors of their age category in this championship and are awaiting the results.
Furthermore, in the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA) Inter County Championship Adam, Alex and Sam have been representing the County. Their cards have been shot and they are now awaiting the results.
Master in Charge of Shooting, Iain Reeves, said, “It has been great that our pupils have been able to continue to compete in the above competitions in a socially distanced and safe manner. They have worked hard to develop their skills, concentration, patience and strength, and I’m incredibly proud of their achievements.”
