Oakham School Qualify for Gatcombe Inter-Schools 90cm Arena Eventing

Well done to the Oakham 90cm arena eventing team of  Em, Katie and Eliza who came second in their class at the SEG Inter-Schools Arena Eventing at Weston Lawns Equestrian Centre. Their success secures them a spot at the Inter-Schools Arena Eventing 90cm Championship at Gatcombe, which is open to 196 schools later this year.

There were individual successes as well for Eliza (Form 3), who finished second in the 90cm individual class, and Katie (Form 4) who placed second in the 100cm individual class.

Form 1 pupil Evie and Form 3 pupil Oliver also competed in the 80cm class.

Accompanying teacher, Henry Deane, said, “Our horse riders did exceptionally well and qualifying for Gatcombe is a great achievement. I am also proud of Evie, (one of the youngest competitors at the competition) who completed all 16 jumps but with one run out, as well as Oliver, who jumped a clear round. The course was not only the most complex either of them had attempted but it was also the largest competition they had entered, and they both coped admirably.”

The riders are now looking forward to the next SEG Inter-School Competition in February at Keysoe.
