Calling all creative writers! The 2021 Oakham School Poetry Competition is now open to all pupils between the ages of 11 and 18.
Simply write a poem in English of no more than 48 lines on the theme of ‘New Beginnings’ and send it as a Microsoft Word or PDF document to oakhampoetry@oakham.rutland.sch.uk
The competition is free to enter and will be judged in two categories: 11–13 years and 14–18 years.
The winning entries in each category will receive a top prize of £50 and a second prize of £25, as well as additional prizes for commended poems.
The competition will close at noon on Friday 26 March 2021 and the winners will be announced on Thursday 22 April 2021.
