Oakham School library celebrates Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Oakham School library has put on a wonderful Queen’s Platinum Jubilee themed display for pupils and staff.

There is a timeline of photos that looks back at events, famous people and discoveries over the course of the Queen’s record-long 70-year reign. There are also popular books that were published in those years for people to look at.

The exhibition features a cut out of the Queen, against which pupils can have their photo taken and a beautifully dressed jubilee themed table, ready for celebrations on Speech Day.

Librarian and organiser of the display, Janine Coleman, said, “It has been fantastic to see pupils engage with the display and discuss and work out what the different events are. A lot has changed since Queen Elizabeth came to the throne in 1952 and people are often surprised by how much in such a short space of time.”

Lower 1 pupil Madeleine said, “As with all of the library displays they immediately draw you in and you want to find out more. This one is particularly vibrant and colourful, provides you with the information that you need and looks absolutely amazing!”

More information on the Jubilee display can be found on the library’s Instagram account @oakhamschlibrary.
