The academic activity, Model United Nations (MUN), in Oakham’s Upper School is going from strength to strength with news just in that Oakham pupils will be representing India, Belarus and Venezuela at the next MUN Conference to be held at Kingswood School, Bath in March. The number of countries represented by Oakham reflects the sheer popularity of MUN at Oakham.
Pupils will form part of committees and will participate in two days of debates, discussing global issues such as the use of torture, compulsory vaccination passports, cyberwarfare, gender rights, instability on the border between Russia and Ukraine and many more important topics dominating the world stage.
MUN conferences are a simulation of the real United Nations; students act as delegates of a country and are tasked with presenting resolutions that tackle global issues.
The conference will see Oakham’s MUN students embodying the School Values, not least in the huge contribution they will be making to this global stage.
Every member of Oakham’s MUN groups is working with the delegates to ensure the conference is as successful as possible and we wish them the best of luck.
