F7 Oakham students have just returned from a very successful MUN Conference held at Cheadle Hulme School over Service weekend.
The conference is an unparallel opportunity to engage with the key international issues of the day often within a lively and focused environment. Pupils form delegations and represent the policies of their given countries( Brazil and Israel) on such issues as Human Rights violations, the use of child soldiers, gun control, cybersecurity, the reform of the Security council and disputes between neighbouring countries.
Mr Ward ( Lead Teacher of MUN) said “Working independently on their research beforehand and then collaborating effectively in committee, making alliances with other countries and having to compromise their own position, means the students will develop a wide ranging skills set which will stand them in excellent stead for future life: inquiry, critical thinking, communication, collaboration and the ability to listen to others”.
