We are delighted to announce the publication of our new look Oakhamian and Old Oakhamian magazines.Celebrating the many happy memories, sporting triumphs and joyful achievements of our current and former pupils over the past academic year, for the first time in their recent history our two magazines share double billing in a single edition.
As Headmaster Henry Price writes in his introduction, “As you will see from the wonderful range of articles and features, the torch of Oakham School has shone brightly throughout the year, and even the complexities of Covid have not diminished this.”
The Oakhamian features as its cover stars the Class of 2020 whose traditional leaving celebrations were adapted and enjoyed virtually this year. Meanwhile Old Oakhamian England cricketer Stuart Broad (04) is the cover star of the Old Oakhamian magazine, as former Oakham School teacher and professional cricketer, Frank Hayes, reflects on his own remarkable career and memories of coaching Oakham’s most successful cricketer. Stuart, who made sporting history this summer, has been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020, so we are thrilled that our feature article should contain such timely subject matter!
Whilst both magazines have been given a creative makeover, with a fresh new design and features, everyone’s favourite sections are all still included; the Oakhamian showcases our School’s vibrant academic, cross-curricular, and House life, and the Old Oakhamian celebrates news and shares memories of School from our alumni community. With two magazines to choose from, the only question that remains is from which end will you start reading first?
Parents: pick up your copy of the magazines from your child’s House either now or at the start of next term.
