National Indoor Athletics Championships success

Congratulations to Form 3 pupil Fabian who has won his first National title at the National Indoor Athletics Championships. He ran the 300m race in 36.65 seconds, which makes him the 3rd fastest U15 indoor 300m runner of all time. His win also means he is now number 1 in the UK rankings.

The competition also saw Form 2 pupil Sofia placed 5th in the finals. Sofia was the youngest of the athletes, running up an age group in the Junior Girls 800m. Sofia broke the School record, held by Helen Braybrook by 0.1 of a second with a time of 2 min 24.2sec.

Meanwhile, Form 7 athlete Evan has been selected to join the Olympic pathway for England Athletics giving him the opportunity to develop his skills and abilities further for senior success.

Director of Athletics Mr Trefon Vandoros said, “What an incredible day for our top Oakhamian athletes and they should be so proud. They have worked hard and their success is completely deserved. A huge well done to Sofia too running in an age group above her own age category and finishing 6th nationally. Just exceptional.”
