Eleven talented musicians from Forms 2, 3, 4 & 6 performed in the Thistleton Music Festival on Friday 13 May, entertaining an appreciative audience in this beautifully restored local church with an evening concert.
As part of our Music Out & About series supporting the local community, it was a wonderful opportunity for our musicians to perform in front of a different audience, in many cases presenting repertoire prepared for performances in the School’s singing competition, lunchtime recital series or for forthcoming music exams.
With music for brass, strings, voice and woodwind, the audience clearly enjoyed both the variety of music and the high musical standards, with Oakham pupils performing music ranging from the Baroque era to the present day. Nine singers came together to sing John Rutter’s Look at the day as an apt finale for a concert set in the beautiful Rutland countryside.
Congratulations to all who participated.
