Musical Enrichment Day Strikes a Chord

On Thursday 26 April, our school welcomed 12 eager pupils from seven schools for a day filled with musical discovery. Aldwickbury, Brooke Priory, Copthill, Grantham Prep, Highfields, Spratton Hall, and St Hugh’s all sent representatives for an enriching musical experience.

Under the guidance of our talented teaching staff, including Steve Foster, Anne Bolt, Cason Kang, Emma Gant, Lisa Nelson, Jonathan Harris, and Archie Foster the day kicked off with two lively morning sessions. We were also fortunate enough to have Alan Thomas as a guest guitarist and arranger join our talented staff. Pupils rotated between groups, participating in a performance class and an ensemble class. A short tea break mid-morning, and lunch in the school dining room provided refreshing pauses before diving back into the musical excitement.

The afternoon sessions were equally thrilling, with teachers showcasing their own musical talents, before pupils and teachers joined forces to perform the ensemble pieces together. Laughter and applause filled the air as everyone came together in harmony.

The day was not only educational but also a whole lot of fun! From learning new pieces to collaborating with fellow musicians, the pupils experienced the joy of making music together. It was testament to the power of music to bring people together and create lasting memories.
