Music at Lunchtime: A Vibrant Violin Recital

This week’s Music at Lunchtime recital was given by Music Scholar Lizzie, in Form 5, who performed a selection of music for violin, accompanied by Anne Bolt on piano.

Lizzie’s first piece was Beethoven’s Romance No. 2. The piece starts with a gentle touch, weaving delicate melodies that float above the accompaniment. Lizzie’s tone was warm and expressive throughout, showcasing nimble fingers and steady bow control.

Following that was the first movement from Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. Navigating through the demanding passages with agility, Lizzie played the fiery and expressive melodies showing an understanding of the music’s Spanish flair and romantic sentiment.

Congratulations to Lizzie, performing her pieces with great musicality and character!

The recording from the recital is available here.

Next week’s Music at Lunchtime recital will be given by Form 6 pupils, Rosie and Daisy who will be performing vocal solos by Roger Quilter and music for saxophone by Lunde and Monti.
