Starting the year off strongly, our first recital of the year was given by Director of Music, Peter Davis, playing piano and organ. Delighting us with a selection of three familiar spirituals – Wade in the Water, Deep River and Go down, Moses – Mr Davis reminded us of the significance of these songs to an oppressed people, giving hope and an escape to freedom while they sang and worked.
Hosting our Lunchtime concerts in All Saints Church brings the School and the local community closer through music.
One attendee explained, “We come almost every week even if we don’t know who it is or the music they’re performing.
“We know Peter now, he’s always great, and the music choice is always brilliant.”
Another attendee spoke about why she attends every week:
“Often I don’t know the music; however, I always enjoy it. You can always learn something, especially when it is a piece you aren’t as familiar with.”
