More Oakham Rugby Success

It has been an excellent few weeks of Rugby at Oakham School, with various alumni and Oakhamian successes.

OO Sam Costelow (19) has been picked for the Welsh U20 side for the Six Nations Championships and OO Jack Van Poortvliet (19) has been recently selected on the bench for this Saturday’s England U20 V France U20, which is on Sky at 8pm.

Sam Costelow has also recently signed a two-year deal with The Scarlets, after playing for Wales U16s and U18s and helping Leicester Tigers win two Academy League titles. He is currently part of the Leicester Tigers first team squad and has played in a few games in their European campaign.

OO Sam Wolstenholme (17) has appeared regularly from the bench for Wasps and Harry (Form 6) has played frequently for Tigers AXV along with OO Cameron Jordan (18).

Meanwhile Kit (Form 7), Jed (Form 6), Charlie (Form 7) and Henry (Form 6) helped secure a third consecutive final place for the Tigers Academy in the U18 League after they beat a very good Worcester XV at Welford Road last weekend.

Another fantastic highlight has been the Under 15 Natwest Cup victory at Bromsgrove School, setting up a Quarter-final at Sedbergh School in the week before half term.

Director of Rugby Mr Andy Rice said, “We are immensely proud of the achievements of these Oakhamians, and the next few weeks promise to be very exciting. We are also looking forward to hosting our annual Sevens tournament held on Sunday 1st March.”
