Lower School Pupils Show Care, Courage, Contribution and Connection

Lower School pupils have embodied the four School values this term with an array of charitable and team-building activities.

Care, Courage, Contribution and Connection are the core values defined as what makes an Oakhamian, and Ancaster House have hosted a number of exciting projects to celebrate these.

The four values have been incorporated into House time and pupils started their project by writing letters to local care home residents about their School life and what they have recently been doing in classes.

They have also decorated biscuits in blue and yellow to show support for Ukraine and used House breakfast time to find connections with their peers.

Finally, in contributing to a charity, the pupils sold ice lollies during their lunch break to raise money for Cancer Research. Ahead of the ice lolly sale, the House also had a competition for the best poster promoting the sale, showing courage by putting themselves forward and showcasing their talents.

Kelly Gibbons, Housemistress of Ancaster, said: “The Ancaster girls have been fantastic working together in their House families to come up with ideas that challenge their understanding of the 4 C’s, planning activities and taking leadership of these tasks whilst contributing to their school, local and global community.”

“With all three year groups working together it has enabled the girls to develop broader friendships across the house, finding similar connections of interest with older and younger peers, whilst also respecting the diverse interests of those within the house community.”

Oakham School’s values represent qualities it wishes to inspire and instil in all pupils, which it hopes will guide them through their lives.
