Oakham’s four Lower School Houses have joined together to create a giant Advent Calendar that will retell the story of the Nativity over the final 12 days of term. Each of the windows of Lower School Reception has been transformed into a numbered door behind which hides an image depicting a scene from the Nativity story that has been drawn or painted by a Lower School pupil.
Chaplain, Fr Tim Tregunno, who has masterminded the creation of the Calendar, said: “Starting with a beautiful image of the Angel Gabriel drawn by Ryewin Bridger from Ancaster House, over the course of the next 12 days I will be opening each door to reveal another image. Once again Oakham’s Lower School pupils have demonstrated their enthusiasm to embrace new challenges; the speed with which they worked together to create 12 lovely pieces of artwork has been particularly impressive. I am delighted that we can mark the beginning of Advent, and also count down the final days of the term together in this way.”
