Lower School Hosts Boarding Taster Weekend
Oakham School’s Lower School hosted a group of children for an action-packed boarding taster weekend.
Pupils learned bushcraft skills including fire building and water purification, before trying target shooting in the school’s indoor range.
The afternoon was spent in the gardens, with the team at Hodges – the Lower School boarding house – serving up a barbecue feast. Guests and current boarders then spent the evening watching a film on Hodges’ very own cinema screen.
Sunday morning saw pupils treated to leisurely breakfast, including Mr Banham’s bacon and eggs.
Visitors departed at 10am before Lower School boarders set off for a weekend trip to Wicksteed Park.
Speaking about the event, Head of Lower School Boarding Mr Tom Banham said: “All of our visitors were an absolute pleasure to have with us for the weekend, and I hope to see them all again soon.”
The next taster weekend is due to take place on Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October 2023. The event is open for pupils in years five to eight.
