Lower 1 learn essential skills at the Warning Zone

Lower 1 pupils have enjoyed a day at the Warning Zone in Leicester learning about staying safe and how to protect themselves online.

The centre comprises of different rooms, each presenting a different scenario, including electricity and building sites, road safety, fire risk in the home, risk around railways etc., and the children are given practical advice about identifying risks.

Alison Petit, Teacher of Lower One and English said, “It has been a really worthwhile day with the pupils learning some essential messages on personal safety and online safety, including online grooming, phishing, cyberbullying, sharing images, internet terms and protecting personal information.”

This day trip is one of many well-being activities that Oakham offers as part of its exceptional pastoral care and is excellent preparation for the innovative Body and Mind Programme in the Middle School.
