Congratulations to the 19 Lower School pupils who received awards in this year’s Junior Maths Challenge, run by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT). 9 pupils received a bronze, 7 silver and 3 gold.
Pupils across the UK took part in the challenge with approximately the top 6% earning a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% bronze.
A special mention must go to pupils Charlotte, Oliver and Faith in Form 2 who received gold certificates and qualified for the next round, the ‘Junior Kangaroo’ to be held in June. Charlotte also earned the title ‘Best in Year’.
Teacher of Mathematics, David Russell said, “The challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. A huge well done to all those who took part, in particular to those who received awards.”
