Pupils and members of staff were invited to the Smallbone Library to take part in an impressive interactive Art installation inspired by Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese contemporary artist well known for her dot patterns.
Trainee Teacher of Art Miss Jessica Gilbert tells us more:
“The interactive installation, on display for only two days, looks to Yayoi Kusama for inspiration. Based on Kusama’s Obliteration Room, we asked students and staff to participate by adding circular coloured stickers to a white space, complete with white furniture.
The aim of the sessions was to welcome and encourage everyone to participate in art, offering a moment of fun and the chance to be part of something bigger. With the display only being semi-permanent, lasting two days – we really wanted to capture how you can bring people together to create something collectively.
We also encourage staff and students to research into Kusama and her work, which will be on display later this year in the Tate Modern.”
