Dr Rachael Pearson, Head of Careers and Progression at Oakham School, has recently become among the first in the world to become a THE Accredited Counsellor.
The Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme is designed for counsellors working in secondary schools from all over the world who provide advice to students on career and university selection.
TES established this initiative in response to requests from the community and stated that the programme is “for counsellors, by counsellors”.
According to TES: “We recognise that counsellors play a truly pivotal role in helping students make life changing decisions on their future studies and careers, and this programme aims to enable their development as practitioners.”
Rachael leads Oakham School’s dedicated, full time Careers and Leavers’ Support Team, which provides helpful careers advice to pupils throughout their time at Oakham.
As well as providing guidance and information with regards to possible future careers, the department supports with UCAS applications, Oxbridge selection, clinical course applications, overseas Universities and work experience.
