Gunthorpe House Spirit Shines in Weekend Challenge

Written by Olivia Brown (Form 6)

The girls of Gunthorpe House have successfully taken part in a new weekend challenge – to prepare and serve brunch or afternoon tea for their family – encouraging everyone to do something for others.

Many of the girls sent in picture of cakes and other sweet treats they had made for afternoon tea with their family members; some made scones while others made finger sandwiches. Some also attempted to make brunch, with avocado and bacon sandwiches being a favourite. It is really exciting to see the creativity of everyone in the House and how much fun everyone is having while completing the challenges.

“I really enjoyed the weekend challenge this week because my mum is always baking and cooking food for us at home, so it was nice to be able to give her a break and treat her to some delicious cakes instead,” says Deputy Head of House, Chloe Howard. Another Gunthorpe Prefect, Eliza Cohen-Gregory says, “The weekend challenges give me something fun to do and put some structure in my weekend when there isn’t much else we can do.”

This follows last week’s challenge where the girls were asked to take a photograph with the theme ‘outside’ which encouraged everyone to take a break from their screens and get some fresh air. There were some beautiful snowy scenes that were captured, as well as several views of Rutland Water and also a couple of very cute dogs.

We can’t wait to see what our future challenges will be as they really help to keep up our House spirit and camaraderie in these testing times.
