Dr Merry, Forensic Psychologist, and Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University delivered a second lecture to Oakham’s pupils studying Psychology on Offender Profiling, which explores typical personality and behavioural characteristics of criminals.
Students were introduced to FBI profiling which proposes offenders fall into two categories – organised and disorganised.
Head of Psychology Miss Findlay said, “The seminar was incredibly interesting and relevant. By the end of the lecture, students were able to use FBI profiling methods to analyse a real case study and identify whether the offender was organised, disorganised, or a mixture of both. They also had an opportunity to ask several questions about Forensic Psychology as a career opportunity.”
Psychology is a new and popular addition to Upper School which is offered at both A-Level and as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
