Congratulations to Old Oakhamian (OO) Matthew Ramshaw (’18) who has been selected for the 2022 Great Britain Hockey Senior Squad. Matthew has been selected in the men’s training squad and hopes to feature for Great Britain over the coming year, in particular the Commonwealth Game and the FIH Hockey Pro League.
Fellow OO Alex Stadler (’17) who currently plays goalkeeper for Germany’s men’s national field hockey team will play against Matthew in the FIH Hockey Pro League. Also hoping to join Matthew in the Great Britain team is former Oakham School Coach David Goodfield.
Director of Hockey at Oakham School, James Bateman said, “I’m absolutely delighted for Matthew to be selected in the squad, I’ve not stopped smiling since he called to share the news. It is testament to his hard work and dedication that he has been rewarded with a place on the Great Britain Centralised Programme. I’m excited to see him shine on the International stage, particularly in the battles against fellow OO Alex Stadler when England play Germany in the Pro League!”
Good luck to Matthew and David as they each prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, and to all 3 when they meet in the FIH Hockey Pro League.
