Form 7 pupils enjoy last few weeks of School life.

Form 7 IB pupils, who finished their assessments at the beginning of the Summer Term, have been able to take part in a range of courses and activities giving them the chance to experience a part of School life previously denied to them over the past year due to the pandemic.

Activities have included reflexology, bike rides, a 10k walk, a first aid course, Barista training, personal safety and self defence training, wine tasting and trips to Hunstanton, Cambridge and Oxford.

Head of the Upper School Houses Emma Durston and David Taylor said, “This year is far from a normal one and consequently we feel that it is important to offer some alternative end of year options. The pupils have worked extremely hard through this most difficult of terms. They have proved themselves to be remarkable, resourceful and resilient young people and we are determined that they can finish their schooldays with an enjoyable and appropriate flourish.”

Aurore Guillomot-Bonnefond, Resident Tutor of Rushebrookes tells us more about the pupils’ trip to Cambridge:

“The unpredictable weather did not dampen their enthusiasm and the Oakhamians were seen walking in the city centre, the marketplace and looking at some of the colleges. With the easing of lockdown rules, they were able to stop for lunch in some of the restaurants and treated themselves to some delicious ice-cream and chocolate brownies. They enjoyed the shops that the city had to offer, and came back to School with clothes, books and gifts for their friends. It was a fantastic day out and a great opportunity for them to spend time together on this last week before half-term.”

More activities and courses are planned for the pupils after half-term with those studying A-levels set to join in upon completion of their assessments.
