Form 6 enjoy their annual Burns Night celebration

Form 6 boarders and day pupils enjoyed their annual Burns Night celebration last weekend, which saw them joining together for a special Scottish meal and some Scottish dancing.

The evening started with a traditional ‘Address to the Haggis’, (a poem by Burns to celebrate his appreciation of the Haggis) performed by Dr Nicoll.

Following the Haggis starter, everyone enjoyed a delicious roast dinner. They were then encouraged to mix with other pupils on different tables, where they were served Cranachan, a sweet dessert consisting of berries and cream.

After the supper, pupils put on their dancing shoes and took to their feet dancing to the ceilidh band.

Mr Gelderbloom, Housemaster of Haywoods said, “The evening was a great success with plenty of laughs and new friendships made. It is a great way to explore Scottish traditions and culture”.
