Form 6 Classics pupils visit The Barber Institute of Fine Arts

This week saw Form 6 Classical Civilisation pupils visiting the ‘Barber Institute of Fine Arts’ in Birmingham to see the exhibition ‘The First Dictators: Politics, Propaganda and the Collapse of the Roman Republic. The trip complemented their academic study of the end of the Republic, including the assassination of Caesar.

F6 pupil Rose Manning writes…

“During the visit we studied the coin collection from Ancient Rome and focused on the first and second triumvirates along with dictators, which allowed further insight to our set course in the study of Caesar. We were also allowed the wonderful opportunity to wander around the rest of the museum where we saw paintings such as ‘A Peasant Woman Digging’ by Vincent Van Gogh. Overall, it was a brilliant experience and many of us claim “one of the better trips at Oakham”. High praise indeed!
